PPE User Checks Course

The aim of this one-day PPE User Checks Course is to give participants an understanding of their responsibilities when using and inspecting PPE at work on a daily basis, more commonly known as user checks.

At the end of the course participants will understand:

  • PPE law;
  • pre-use checks;
  • concepts of inspecting PPE;
  • recognise the types of defects found on PPE used at your site;
  • storage, maintenance, and cleaning of PPE;
  • quarantine and disposal of damaged equipment.

Attendance on this course does not guarantee competence to inspect all PPE. If in doubt as to the suitability or condition of equipment or an item of PPE, the manufacturer’s instructions should be consulted.

If doubt remains, do not use an item, or piece of equipment, and ensure that it is stored and labelled in such a way so that it cannot accidentally be used by others.

Please note that this manual and training course does not qualify you to become a competent person for thorough inspections as defined by the LOLER.
