ERCA Rescuer

The health and safety of users and instructors is of paramount importance on ropes courses and adventure parks. There should always be a rescuer available should anyone need help.

The ERCA rescuer qualification builds on the instructor award to enable the holder of the qualification to rescue users and company employees from a ropes course. The scope for rescues for the rescuer award is limited to applications in connection with the user and individual safety systems in place at the training venue. Other rescues (e.g. rescue of contractors during construction or maintenance) are excluded.

The training consists of a theory/core module and specific/practical modules, of which at least one practical module must be completed.

The practical modules consist of an "active rescue" - rescue method where the operator of the rescue device(s) moves with the casualty from the ropes course to a safe location. Both operating the device(s) and looking after the casualty.

The "passive rescue" - rescue method where the operator of the rescue device(s) remains in their position/location controlling the rescue device(s). The casualty will be moved either accompanied or unaccompanied from the ropes course to a safe location.

Finally, there is a "specific rescue" which allows for options for site/ device specific rescues where rescue methods are adopted by sites where the active or passive modules do not fit adequately.

Vertex offers a full ERCA Rescuer Course which will cover the core module and both the active and passive rescues.

If your operation requires only one of the rescue methods (passive or active or specific) then please give us a call or drop us an email to discuss your requirements.
